That first slice is always worth waiting for.
The First Slice captures a quiet late-autumn afternoon in the kitchen—the moment a freshly baked sourdough sandwich loaf is finally ready to cut. Golden sunlight streams through the window, falling across the warm crust and the baker’s hands as she begins that very first slice. Behind the loaf rests the distinctive 13-inch USA Pan Pullman Loaf Pan used to create its classic sandwich-bread shape, along with a favorite mug and softly folded kitchen towel.
Painted in luminous watercolor with warm golds, soft sage greens and cool autumn shadows, this piece celebrates the simple beauty of homemade bread and the everyday moments that make a kitchen feel like home.
The First Slice was originally created for the November page of my 2027 Sourdough Calendar and was inspired by That Sourdough Gal’s Wonder Bread Copycat Sourdough recipe.

Let customers speak for us
I absolutely love my original painting of the Holly Blue butterfly! Thank you Heidi for doing such a wonderful work!
Love my ne long sleeve v neck tees on black!! Great fit and quality! Fast shipping!
As I have said before, Heidi's work speaks for itself and she's never missed. When she gets a vision when she sets her sights on something new or challenging. She gets an idea and then it happens like magic. I am a big fan of the mini's that are framed as they are very cozy and intimate and make amazing gifts.
I have ordered twice and Holly is amazing. Great response time, fast shipping, and beautiful artwork. 100% recommend
This print was so good that I thought it was the original. The colors are bright. The paper is such a hot quality!
Thank you for an extremely cute Fall sweatshirt! Love it! The shipping process for overseas delivery went smoothly and it arrived in a timely fashion. Thanks again!
Beautiful!
I bought this as a gift for my cousin, her mom (my aunt) passed away and she was a huge hummingbird fan so when I saw this I automatically thought of my aunt and then my cousin and was like this would be a perfect gift. It's even more beautiful in person
I absolutely love my shirt and sweatshirt I ordered! They are adorable! Great quality and came fast!!
The small painting is even more beautiful and detailed in person. Absolutely love it! I am looking forward to finding my next painting to purchase.
I couldn’t resist adding the tiny Mr. Fox to my home collection. Heidi is beyond talented and goes the extra mile with equally beautiful packing. The addition of certificate of authenticity makes this original artwork a true heirloom.
I collect hedgehogs so when I saw this tiny hedgehog, I knew I needed him to add to my collection. I love it so much. It is adorable. She did a fabulous job as always even the little card that was on the front of the card that my tiny painting was in was adorable. I actually framed them both and I have them prominently displayed in my entry hall. I highly recommend Heidi‘s work. I have several things and everything is always top-notch.❤️❤️❤️
The apron is beautifully made. The fabric is heavy, similar to canvas. The embroidery pops on the black background. It’s so lovely and makes me proud to wear it. It’s worth every penny of the cost.
Our team ordered these for the 1st day of school. They fit great and look AMAZING!!!
Good quality
