There is a special kind of beauty in the first moments of morning, when the countryside is still waking and the world seems to hold its breath.
The First Sound captures that fleeting moment as a duck takes flight from a quiet pond, sending ripples across the water beneath the golden light of sunrise. Beyond the pond, a weathered red barn rests among rolling hills and misty fields, while wildflowers, rustic fencing, and overhanging branches frame the peaceful scene.
Rich in warmth, atmosphere, and nostalgic charm, this countryside watercolor celebrates the simple beauty of rural life and the quiet wonder of a new day.
Painted by artist Heidi Sack, The First Sound was selected for exhibition in the 2026 Lucien Kapp Art Competition in Decatur, Illinois.

I ordered this for our new grandbaby and his first Christmas ornament. Item arrived as described and in good timing. Super cute!
Maker is extremely easy to communicate with and her products are always a joy to receive. This painting went so perfectly with another that I had purchased from her, especially when she helped me with a frame to go well with them both.

It was so comfortable. Thank you
Once again and as always-we are in love with Heidi's work! I ordered a custom piece for my sister and a couple of personalized stockings for a friend and they could not be more perfect. I love that I can tell her what I am thinking and she brings it to life every time.
Heidi paints beautifully. Will definitely be putting this up as a special piece in my Xmas collections.
So so beautiful. I can’t wait to hang them after the finishing touches are done on my kitchen/dining and living room remodel. So very close too. I’m excited!! Everything from Heidi is top notch.

Love my ne long sleeve v neck tees on black!! Great fit and quality! Fast shipping!
As I have said before, Heidi's work speaks for itself and she's never missed. When she gets a vision when she sets her sights on something new or challenging. She gets an idea and then it happens like magic. I am a big fan of the mini's that are framed as they are very cozy and intimate and make amazing gifts.
I have ordered twice and Holly is amazing. Great response time, fast shipping, and beautiful artwork. 100% recommend
